Green Philly Week Guide: 6/30 – 7/4
Are you struggling to make plans for this week?
Whether you’re looking for networking over drinks, pickling cucumbers, or playing with your children; we have just the events your are searching for!
- Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University: On Monday, June 30th, families get in free admission to Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University (Benjamin Franklin Parkway). Visitors can check out the Birds of Paradise exhibit, visit their favorite dinosaurs, make a feather headdress to take home, and even learn how to milk a cow. The first 200 kids through the door get a free book!
- Green Drinks: On the first Wednesday of every month, those who work in the environmental field meet up and have simple, unstructured, informal info sessions where people can make connections, find jobs, and develop ideas in the green community. This Wednesday, July 2nd, Green Drink events are taking place in Northern Liberties, Cherry Hill, South Philadelphia, Chester County, and Center City. It’s a great way to network!
- Wine and Brine at Home with Phickle: On July 2nd, Phickle is hosting an event where people will learn the basics of vegetable fermentation and pickling. Wine, beer, cheese, bread, other fermented snacks, and all the ingredients you need to make a batch of pickles will be provided. The class costs $55 and starts promptly at 6:30pm. Be sure to reserve a spot and bring your DIY spirit!
- Seedlings Parent & Child Outdoor Program: Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education is hosting parent-and-child activities to promote nature and environmental awareness on Friday, July 4th. Children, ages 2-5, will join in nature-inspired activities and get a sneak peak of the Nature Preschool from 2-3pm. Adult participation and pre-registration is required. Tickets cost $6 for members and $8 for non-members.
