Philly’s 15 cent paper bag fee, weckerly’s new ownership & more

The latest sustainability news in Philly

Paper bags will have a 15-cent fee in Philadelphia after approval of City Council. Paper bag usage has increased due to the plastic bag ban in the city.

New Jersey’s projected offshore wind farm would not seriously injure whales, despite a misinformation campaign funded by the fossil fuel industry.

Weckerly’s will reopen in January under new ownership after owners Jen and Andy Satinsky announced the ice cream business would close at the end of 2023. The Fishtown location will reopen on January 6th with Cristina Torres as the new owner.
