MommyCon Philadelphia Hits Town Sunday: Ticket Giveaway

Just like Cloth’s Angela Halperin knows, “natural” parenting is awesome.

Based on the desire to live & parent responsibly, MommyCon is a one day conference to help parents make conscious decisions. On August 11th, MommyCon is coming to Philadelphia’s Sonesta Hotel to provide families with advice, inspiration, techniques, products and answers to all questions regarding “natural parenting.”

MommyCon will include over a dozen workshops and seminars that cover everything from birthing, breastfeeding and babywear plus phenomenal speakers that range from birth professionals to inspirational parenting bloggers. Seminars include Beco Baby Carrier and Ergobaby present Babywearing 101, cloth diapering with Sloomb, green living, and car seat safety presented by Clek. Guest speakers include Jessica Martin-Weber (The Leaky Boob), Abby Theuring (The Badass Breastfeeder), Jamie Grayson (TheBabyGuyNYC) and many others.

We asked Alexzandra Higgins, co-founder of MommyCon a few questions about the upcoming event.

Green Philly Blog: Why will Mommycon help new parents?

Alexzandra Higgins: MommyCon creates a sense of community for new and expecting parents. New parents can learn all about birth, breastfeeding, cloth diapering, babywearing, essential oils and other natural parenting practices.

Green Philly Blog: What ‘types’ of parents will benefit the most?

Alexzandra Higgins: Parents that are expecting, and those with children 0-3 years old will benefit most. It’s a great opportunity for families to learn new natural parenting and lifestyle choices, but also a great chance to connect with other parents. The journey of motherhood can be a lonely one, and 400 parents connecting in one place is a really monumental community effort.

Green Philly Blog: What’s the greenest thing a new parent can do?

Alexzandra Higgins: Cloth diapering is one of the greenest parenting choices. It will save you some green, and help the environment. Cloth diapering can save a family $3000 per child, and keep disposables out of our landfills.
