Come out for a 5K to support breathing healthy, clean air in sustainable neighborhoods and our region’s overall health.

The Clean Air Council’s 5K Run for Clean Air is the Philadelphia’s largest Earth Day Celebration. This year, the 32nd annual run is coming up on April 20th at 9 AM on MLK drive next to the Philadelphia Art Museum. The 5K Run for Clean Air is a certified-green run and zero-waste event, complete with outdoor waste bin stations with trash, composting and recycling sections.

New in 2013, a Kids’ Fun Run has been added as a 1/2 mile sprint for children ages 5-12, and a 250 yard dash for kids under 5. “This family friendly day is an opportunity for the region to celebrate spring, support the environment, and promote exercise,” said Gretchen Dahlkemper Alfonso, Mom’s Clean Air Force Field Director. “There is something for every fitness level: a competitive 5K run, an enjoyable 3K walk, and now a Kids’ Fun Run.”

Also new in 2013 will be the location of the celebration at the art museum steps including exhibitors, activities, food & fun. Plus, participants age 60 and over can receive a free registration fee (thanks to sponsor SCA).
