New bipartisan congressional Delaware River Watershed Caucus formed

Group will focus on funding, education and conservation issues

U.S. Representatives Antonio Delgado (D-NY-19) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-1) recently announced a new bipartisan congressional group, the Congressional Delaware River Watershed Caucus. The caucus is dedicated to Delaware River Watershed issues and its landscape-scale programs focused on water quality and quantity, ecological restoration, and conservation.

The bipartisan group is expected to bring more funding and conservation efforts, according to local conservation groups. “With bipartisan leadership from Representatives Delgado and Fitzpatrick, it signals a promising future for increased funding and efforts to protect the water and land that birds and we all need for a healthy and prospering ecosystem, community and economy,” said Beth Brown, director of Audubon’s Delaware River Watershed Program.

The caucus will focus on groups like the Delaware River Basin Restoration Program, support for the Delaware River Basin Commission, coordination of the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, and educating other Members of Congress on related policy issues.
