Friday Quickie: Clean the Air, Reduce Allergies
At this risk of sounding like an annoying daytime television commercial, “Yes I suffer from terrible seasonal allergies.” For me and other allergy sufferers fall can mean tissues, eye drops and lots of cursing your bad fortune.
I’ve learned a few tricks over the years to help clean household air and reduce allergy symptoms:
- Bring house plants that have spent the summer outside indoors – this can have a purifying effect.
- Deep clean rugs, sofas, sheets, pillow cases and all bedding to remove surface allergens.
- Mold spores (which can provoke allergies) develop from an excess of moisture. Reduce moisture by making sure you don’t have any household leaks. Check faucets, pipes, walls and roofs.
- Get your roommate or significant other to do the dusting.
