Saving the world isn’t easy. Starting is.
Join United By Blue, REI Co-op, and the Philadelphia Water Department as we start with one creek at a time. On November 23rd, we’ll be cleaning up the banks of Cobbs Creek and we invite you to join us! Come out and volunteer with us by picking up trash before it has the chance to enter the creek and flow into the Delaware River, where it is harder to recover and a greater threat to wildlife.
Meet us at the intersection of Thomas Ave and Cobbs Creek Parkway to get geared up and head out with your volunteer team. All cleanup supplies will be provided onsite. United By Blue will provide stainless steel water bottles for all volunteers as well. Please wear closed-toe shoes that are suitable for rocky terrain and long pants.
This cleanup will kickoff a month of weekly cleanups hosted by REI and United By Blue on waterways all over the country as we count down to #OptOutside day (some people know it as Black Friday). This year, we encourage everyone to not only #OptOutside, but also #OptToAct – take action to protect the outdoor and natural spaces we love.
