Philadelphia Honey Fest 2021 – Wyck Historic House

September 11, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Free

This Saturday, as part of the three-day festival, the Philadelphia Honey Festival at Wyck is our sweet finish to the summer season! At Wyck, the festival offers a variety of activities that celebrate and educate about the honey bee!  Admission is free to the historic Wyck House.  Food will be available from Two Street Sammies, you can stroll the vendor marketplace to peruse honey- and natural products, and there will be an ongoing Children’s Scavenger Hunt.  Jun Tea will teach us how to make kombucha with honey, and hear about the history of beekeeping in Germantown in the early 1700s from landscape historian Miranda Mote.   You’ll be able to purchase mead in our mead tent and listen to concertina music with Lynn Mather.

Schedule of bee activities:
Open Hive talks at 10:30, 12:00 and 3:30
Honey extraction demonstration at 12:00 and 2:00
Bee Beard with Don Shump at 2:30
Ongoing: Observation Hive and Honey Tasting
Jun Tea: Making Kombucha with honey at 11:00 and 1:00
Miranda Mote, PhD: Early Beekeeping in Germantown at 3:00

Note:  The Honey Fest is primarily an outdoor event.  Honey Fest will take place rain or shine; however, some of the activities are weather permitting.

The City of Philadelphia requires that all people wear masks in indoor spaces. To help limit the spread of COVID, please follow the current City of Philadelphia guidelines for visiting an outdoor public space.
