join Heat Response PHL’s Southeast Philadelphia team, led by artist José Ortiz-Pagán in collaboration with Bahay215, for this family friendly block party.
This event will include the unveiling of “La Sombrilla,” as well as a series of Indonesian folkloric dance performances by Modero, free food, live music, and art activities!
“La Sombrilla” is a self-sustaining planter installation formed out of collective design based around narratives shared by migrant communities in
Southeast Philadelphia. This planter also combats urban heat, a climate issue that disproportionately impacts this neighborhood, among others in the city.
This is part of the Heat Response PHL project supported by Trust for Public Land and The Pew Center for Arts and Heritage.
