Free Rain Barrels + More: Bartram’s Garden on Earth Day Weekend

April 21, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Join us on Earth Day weekend and sign up for a free rain barrel or go the extra mile and get a flower-filled downspout planter that will soak up stormwater from your roof to protect our waterways and provide habitat for pollinator species like butterflies. Normally about $800, these downspout planters are provided by the Philadelphia Water Department for just $100 through the Rain Check program.

As our Rain Check partners, the PHS : Pennsylvania Horticultural Society works with firms certified by Sustainable Business Network to install planters, rain gardens and other green stormwater landscaping as part of efforts to combat polluted runoff that impacts waterways and creates sewer overflows. Homeowners who invest in projects like de-paving concrete pads can get up to $2,000 through Rain Check cost-sharing.

The first step to starting any green improvement through Rain Check is coming to a workshop, so we hope to see you at Bartram’s Garden! When you register at http://www.pwdraincheck.org, you can also explore some of the options and see what will be a good fit for your property. Those who rent can still get green tools with permission from the property owner.
