Post Popeadelphia: Week Events 9/28 – 10/4

Happy Monday!

Hopefully you got to stick around Philadelphia this past weekend to enjoy the Pope celebrations across town. From the #poperide on bikes to seeing the Pontifex in the flesh (from the Popemobile or elsewhere), the city celebrated after months of grumbles. Plus, so many opportunities to bike or run IN the streets that was truly unique.

Now, let’s continue our Pope high throughout the week with fabulous Philly events.

Week events – September 28 – October 1, 2015:

  • September Philly Full Moon Bike ride. The Harvest Moon: Meet to join fellow bikers ride in the moonlight and howl at the full moon. (They missed the full moon due to the Pope, but keep up the excitement with a group ride. Monday, September 28th at 9 PM; Art Museum; More info. 
  • Online Voter Registration Social: Are you registered to vote? Join Philadelphia Democratic Progressive Caucus, The 5th Square, and Pennsylvania Working Families to celebrate PA’s Online Voter registration system and register if you need to. Wednesday October 30 from 5:30 – 8:30 PM; Emerald Street Urban Farm, 2312 Emerald St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19125, RSVP. 
  • Night Market: Frankford & Girard: Our friends over at the Food Trust are hosting their final Night Market of 2015 in Fishtown. Enjoy an evening of food trucks, drinks, music & more. Thursday, October 1st, 6-10 PM; Frankford & Girard. More info.

Weekend Events: October 2 – 4, 2015:

  • N3rd Street Birthday Party: Celebrate one year of the “N3rd Street” naming, recognizing the startup & tech community in Liberty Lands. Friday, October 2nd form 2-6 PM; Liberty Lands Park, N 3rd St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19123, More info. 
  • 5th Annual MidAtlantic Women’s Herbal Conference: Join an amazing weekend celebrating sustainable healing and living Featuring Rosita Arvigo, Deb Soule, and more. Expect an inspiring weekend you will never forget with local crafts and remedies, gluten-free and vegan food options; PLUS On site camping. Red Earth Farm, 5785 Golden Key Road, Kempton, PA 19529.   • Rescue Run 5K: The Rescue Run 5K is Philly’s first race to benefit and promote rescue and adoption. Annually in the Fall, hundreds of runners gather at the Navy Yard to race in honor of the dogs we love so much. Saturday, October 3rd at 10 AM; Navy Yard, More info & Register. 
  • March to End Rape Culture: This is an event to call for the end of Rape Culture, with speakers, a march, poetry and live music. There will also be tables from local organizations to find out how you can get involved or get help. All survivors and allies welcomed! Saturday, October 3rd at 11 AM; Thomas Paine Plaza, 1401 JFK Blvd; More info. 
  • Go take a hike! Confluence Tour with Brad Maule: Join the Fairmount Park Conservancy with leader Brad Maule for this hike. The lowest reach of the Wissahickon is lined with magic as it heads into the Schuylkill. This hike sews together geography, industrial history, mystic monks, Norman Rockwell, and a park that doesn’t exist yet with the same thread. Total length is around 4.5 miles and 2.5 hours; there are some challenging hills, so wear sturdy shoes and come ready to hit the trail. Sunday, October 4th at 10 AM; 4900 Ridge Avenue. Register.
  • Art-Reach Fall Festival: Join Art-Reach for the third annual Fall Festival! Hosted on the grounds of the Ridgeland Mansion in Philadelphia’s West Fairmount Park, this will be a day filled with live music, food trucks, art-making activities and local artist vendors. Sunday, October 4th from noon –  4 PM; Fairmount Park; Tickets ($35).
