City of Philadelphia Used Computer Donation Drive Through 1/17

Speaking of recycling your laptop, The City of Philadelphia and the Urban Affairs Coalition are currently hosting a unused, undamaged computers drive (2001 or newer; Pentium 4/Apple G4 or better) that will be refurbished and given to community organizations for internet access and computer training.

From now until Monday January 17th, you can drop off your donated computer during normal business hours at the Mayor’s Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service, located in City Hall, Room 112 (Use Visitor’s Entrance at the NE Corner of City Hall).  (To drop off donation post-business hours, call 215-686-0317 for arrangements.)

The City of Philadelphia & UAC recently won more than $25 mill in federal stimulus grants to help low-income Philadelphians have broadband access & training.  This initiative, the Freedom Rings Partnership, is a major city-wide campaign that will help residents all across the city of Philadelphia. This particular drive will will refurbish used computers and donate them to community organizations at the 2011 Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service (1/17) at Girard College.
