The latest sustainability news this week

Experts testified before the Pennsylvania House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee on the importance of Governor Shapiro’s Pennsylvania Reliable Energy Sustainability Standard (PRESS). The plan, introduced as House Bill 2277, aims to diversify Pennsylvania’s energy sources, boosting clean, renewable energy from the current 3% to a competitive level, fostering investment, job creation, and federal funding.

The Delaware River Sojourn concluded its seven-day paddling event with a final stretch on the tidal Delaware River Estuary on June 22nd. Starting and ending at Bordentown Beach, N.J., the event includes an educational stop at Pennsbury Manor and culminates in a closing celebration, highlighting the theme “A River of Inspiration” with stories from artists, scientists, and outdoor enthusiasts.

The Partnership for the Delaware Estuary (PDE) launched its new research vessel, Tkuweyo, a 20-foot-long G3 Jon boat. Funded by Yamaha Rightwaters, Aqua, and the EPA, this boat will aid PDE scientists in their research on water quality and environmental challenges in the Delaware Estuary. This initiative forwards PDE’s mission to promote clean waters and healthy habitats.
