6 Ways to Green your Thanksgiving

Getting ready for Turkey day preparations?  The biggest travel day of the year surely makes an enviromental impact … so here’s 6 ways to help you green your Thanksgiving meal:

  • Check out the Eat Well Guide to find your local Philadelphia farmers market or green store to purchase ingredients to make your dinner delicious and fresh.
  • Rather than purchasing new loaves, try buying day-old baguettes from your local bakery for stuffing.  This will save a few loaves from the dumpster!
  • If you want to go meat-free, try a tofurky!
  • Have a BYOP (bring your own plate) Thanksgiving. Instead of using paper or plastic dishware have your guests bring their own plate which they can use for their meal and to take home leftovers. Or if you’re partial to matching dishware ask guests to bring Tupperware to take home leftovers instead of using disposable tin foil or plastic bags.
  • If you’re traveling consider carpooling with your relatives to and from your destination. It’s an opportunity for even more quality family time & you’ll save on gas.
  • Remember what your Mom said… Eat your leftovers!

What else are you doing to green your thanksgiving?
