The National Solar Tour (NST) is an annual event organized by the
American Solar Energy Society (ASES) that empowers thousands of people and organizations around the country to showcase the benefits of the renewable energy and sustainability features on their properties by hosting local open houses for the public.
For over
28 years, the NST has brought together individuals and organizations who have installed solar energy systems and sustainable, energy efficient features and provided an opportunity for the public to see firsthand how solar technology works and learn about its advantages from their friends and neighbors.
During the NST, participants visit
solar-powered homes, schools, commercial buildings, and
community solar projects in their local area. Homeowners and solar system owners open their properties to the public, sharing their experiences and knowledge about solar energy. This event helps educate communities about the benefits of solar energy, including cost savings, environmental sustainability, and energy independence.
The NST takes place during the first weekend of October; however, events happen all year round! The NST attracts people interested in renewable energy, sustainability, and reducing their carbon footprint. It provides a valuable platform for
networking, learning, and
fostering community engagement in the clean energy transition. Despite its name, the ASES National Solar Tour does not just feature solar power but also a bevy of additional sustainable features. Learn more: https://map.nationalsolartour.org/.
